The Stay Spa Retreat on Castle Rock Lake is located directly on Castle Rock Lake in central Wisconsin. With a breath-taking waterfront view of Castle Rock Lake, it is the ultimate vacation resort location. Be sure to check out all of the fun things to do in the area including all of the restaurants, tiki huts and bars on Castle Rock Lake.

Castle Rock Lake Area

Castle Rock Lake, located in Adams and Juneau Counties, is Wisconsin’s fourth largest lake and covers 16,640 acres and approximately 60 miles of shoreline. It is known for its sandy shorelines, which makes for great swimming, skiing and leisure boating. 
The majority of the shoreline is undeveloped making the lake “less populated”.
The lake’s depth varies from 8 to 20 feet in most places, with areas in the old river beds reaching as deep as 30 feet. The structure created from river beds makes Castle Rock a very productive and consistent fishing lake. While walleyes, white bass and crappies are the most abundant, many northern pike, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass and panfish are taken as well.
The shores of Castle Rock Lake are dotted with public launch sites, and visitors can enjoy water skiing, swimming, sailing, and boating on its beautiful blue waters. Spectacular sunsets await along the many miles of wooded shoreline where 25,000 acres remain in their natural state.

Juneau County Recreation

If you enjoy ATVing or UTVing, you’re in luck. The trails in Juneau and Adams counties are some of the best in the state. From hills and forests to beautiful bluffs and waterways, this area has something for everyone.

Beaches

There’s a swimming beach right off the Stay Spa back patio and a sunning beach near the marina. Both are within a 1 or 6 minute walk of our Stay Spa Retreat or Lakefront Townhome. There is yet another beach and boat launch just a 1-mile drive away in the adjacent Castle Rock County Park. 

Note: The Castle Rock Condo Assoc. has a pool area near the restaurant that is for Castlerock Lake condo residents only.

Dinner Cruise – Dirty Turtle (5.2 miles)
Whether you’re looking to explore local shops, the Outlet Mall at the Dells, or pick up essentials and groceries, there are plenty of options near the Stay Spa Retreat including a Festival Foods, Kmart, ShopKo Hometown and much more.
There is a convenience store/gas station less than two miles away at the intersection of Hwy. G and HH. The nearest grocery/liquor store is in Mauston (An eleven (11) mile drive to the southwest).
There are some great downhill and cross-country skiing opportunities in the Mauston and Wisconsin Dells area. If you enjoy skiing this information is for you:

If you love winter as much as we do, the Stay Spa Retreat is an amazing getaway. In addition to the luxurious accommodations listed below, the Castle Rock Lake area has incredible trails waiting for you. Some of the best snowmobile trails in Wisconsin are right out the back patio door, so no trailering. These trails are two and a half hours closer, not as busy as the trails in northern Wisconsin, which means you can really open up the throttle on your sled.

While there are plenty of great opportunities and activities in the Castle Rock Lake area, there is also plenty to do around our Stay Spa Retreat and Lakefront Townhome. The Portofino Bay Marina has plenty of boat slips where you can dock your boat, as well as a tiki bar.

And there is nothing like relaxing on your own outdoor patio while enjoying the view of the beautiful and serene Castle Rock Lake. Outdoor kitchens, grills and gas fire-pits are also yours to enjoy at our Stay Spa and Townhome.

Please note that currently the on-site restaurant, Portofino’s, is closed for the 2025 season due to building enhancements.
